On 8 November 2018, art historian and sociologist Peter Bengtsen gave an open talk at Lunds stadsbibliotek about urban creativity, with a focus on street art and graffiti in the Öresund region.

The talk discussed some key differences between expressions of urban creativity in Copenhagen (Denmark) and Malmö (Sweden), as well as some of the lines of distinction between street art and graffiti. The talk further focused on the process of gradually coming to appreciate graffiti as an artistic and cultural expression in urban public space. The talk was in part based on Peter's book <link https: www.academia.edu bengtsen_p._2014_._the_street_art_world external-link-new-window external link in new>The Street Art World (2014). The talk was organised by Centrum för Öresundsstudier. Peter is currently co-coordinating the Urban Creativity theme at the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies. The theme will culminate in a conference in mid-May 2019. A call for papers is under preparation and will be sent out shortly. Anyone interested in urban creativity (e.g. graffiti, street art, parkour, skateboarding, dumpster diving and guerrilla gardening) can contact the coordinators through <link https: www.instagram.com urbancreativitylund external-link-new-window external link in new>Instagram or the <link https: www.pi.lu.se en activities urbancreativity external-link-new-window external link in new>theme website.
