The subject of the course is the development and establishment of fundamental concepts, principally in the areas of politics and science. Focus is on the period around 1800, when the current vocabulary to a large extent was established. The course aims at a deep understanding in how the history of concepts can be used to map out changes in society on the linguistic and semantic level, and trains the student to use methods of analysis derived from the history of concepts.
