Luoshu Liang – Ambassador for the Master's programme in Visual Culture

Introducing Luoshu

Hi! My name is Luoshu and I'm the student ambassador for the Master's programme in Visual Culture. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, courses, student life, and life in Lund and Sweden via the Unibuddy Platform, where you can chat with me (see below). Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships, or residence permits.

Why did you choose Lund University?

Lund University is highly influential in the field of visual culture, and the course content is incredibly appealing to me. I’m also drawn to Sweden’s design atmosphere and lifestyle. Plus, Lund’s diverse environment feels like a place where I can truly find my own space. Overall, it’s the ideal setting for my growth.

What are your first impressions of your programme? Does it meet your expectations?

The course design is interesting, and the professors encourage us to express ourselves. The teaching content aligns well with my interests, which feels reassuring. Group discussions are very enriching, and everyone inspires each other. I’d say it pretty much meets my expectations.

What have been the highlights of your first months in Lund?

I’ve met many new friends from different countries, which has been fascinating. I’ve also enjoyed Sweden’s nature during outdoor activities - it’s very relaxing. I attended a few design talks that sparked a lot of new ideas. Life feels much more fulfilling, both in and out of class.

What do you think of the teaching style in Sweden?

Teaching here is very flexible. Professors encourage us to share new ideas. There are plenty of chances for discussion, and we don’t have to worry about making mistakes. The relaxed classroom atmosphere makes learning enjoyable. Overall, it’s more flexible than teaching styles back home.

How international is your programme?

Almost everyone in the programme comes from different parts of the world, so it’s a complete cultural blend. The variety of perspectives brings many interesting discussions, which is inspiring. I’m learning so much about different cultures and design mindsets through this. The international atmosphere has given me a lot of fresh experiences.

What are you most looking forward to in your programme?

I hope to apply what I’ve learned in real projects - I want to give it a try. I’m especially excited about more design practice opportunities and I’m looking forward to collaborating with classmates on projects.

Stay tuned! A more comprehensive testimonial from this student will be published once they have completed their first semester at Lund and have more insights to share about their programme.
